Air NZ Self checkin at SYD Intl

Was at Syd Intl terminal the other day and noticed 8-12 self service checkin being installed at the Air NZ checkin area.
There was a hive of activity from people installing, testing them.

They had Sydney airport logo on the top but Air NZ on the screen.

Anyone know anything about them?
Is this a sign of things to come for other airlines?

I found an article about it Sydney gets Kiwi airline self-service kiosks

Passengers flying from Sydney to destinations in New Zealand or the Pacific will be able to use the fast-track facilities from today.

Although to give Qantas credit they have had selfserve check in for trans tasman flights for about a year now.
