The last I used was in 2000, an Ansett one for, I think, 25k points. Travelled around Australia mainland, not Tassie.

JAL had airpass but I am certain there were numerous others. Are these still around?

There are different concepts of 'airpasses' around.

Qantas has a 'Walkabout airpass'.

Star Alliance has a number. They have re-jigged their web site, but here for instance is their Europe Airpass Asia Airpass.

LAN used to have a South America Airpass, but they have mucked around with it, now its a LATAM Airpass and it seems you can only get it via agents.

Yes there's numerous air pass products out there. They can make sense in certain scenarios, but more and more often it's cheaper to just book a string of one way/return tickets.

Air pass tickets generally must be issued with a related international ticket.

In the 80's Braniff had one which we used. Unlimited flights anywhere within continental USA for 15/30 or 45 days from 115 GBP
