Alan Jones comments at Liberal function

There was no outcry because the jokes and criticism were made about people in public office. All politicians of every flavour get attacked and belittled every day.
However when you bring someone's child or parent into the mix, you'd best start ducking for cover.

Pity you don't have one of the CFMEU dinner where they had a top notch comedian saying lovely things about TA & his chief of staff :!:

Wonder why there wasn't a huge media outcry:confused: Maybe a boycott & a Facebook hate page of the CFMEU is in order:?:

I saw a few things on the media, but I haven't actually heard what was said. Maybe there was no journo making a sound recording there?

There was no media outcry because the labour party apologised for the joke by the comedian. Reports in the media also say that the crowd went quiet after the joke and some walked out whereas people were laughing after the Alan Jones comments at the liberals event.

Didn't the deputy PM get up & deliver the key note speech after the joke was delivered. No apology, no negative feedback, no walkout......until he realised that someone told the press the next day.

I think the whole thing is a joke - just like the disgraceful display/indulgence in parliament this week :( Talk about double standards.

Sorry, I thought we were fighting sexist & misogynist this week:!: Maybe next week it will be personal attacks.......or was that last week?

Such a sad & sorry display all round.

In the interests of consistency that guy shouldn't have his own radio program either.

So some no-name comedian made a tasteless joke that went down like a lead balloon (and probably killed his career in 10 seconds flat) and that is supposed to be on a par with Alan Jones's "Chaff Bag" and "Julia's Dad Died of Shame" comments?

There wouldn't be any right-wing apologists on this forum, would there?????

It has been an Interesting week in politics.

Julia's speech made you tube and has been a popular download.

15 mins that I am not going to waist as I might die of boredom

No, you are purposely misconstruing events (again).

1. The Alan Jones comment was not misogynist. The attack was panned because it involved a public figure's family member.
2. The epic Julia Gillard speech was a defence against the sexism and hypocrisy of Abbott.

It was not a "sad and sorry display all round". Just sad and sorry this time from Jones, then Abbott.
Why must I explain this (again). It's like you are purposely ignoring what actually occurred.

Just let it go. Gillard had an historic week and politics will never be the same again. (even if you don't acknowledge it)

Sorry.Google John McTernan.
Was the political strategist for Tony Blair.Had a blog in the UK Daily Telegraph.Ran several pieces about David Cameron having a problem with women, being scared of strong Labour women front benchers, was sexist and a misogynist.
Said John McTernan is now a staffer for Julia Gillard.
Nough said.

The interwebs is full of them. Just post something about Alan Jones or Tony Abbott on Reddit that shines them in a negative fashion and see how quickly it is voted down! The Liberals uses interns and staffers to try to hijack discussions around the interwebs.

Two words - Slippery Pete!

Slipper was first and foremost a liberal party member and it has been noted Tony Abbott had no problem attending his wedding.

So all that shows is that Abbott and Cameron have similar views. Not surprising....Conservative/Liberal mind set?

Sorry - I just have to pull you up there and ask if you are seriously contending that only the liberal party uses interns and staffers to "hijack" discussions etc. Surely it would be all political parties that do this?

The point was not so much about the man himself........it was more about how you can be that sick/stupid to support someone like him while you're trying to claim another as a misogynist.

I seem to remember that a member of AFF has posted quite a few videos of the so called comedy/company that told the joke at the CFMEU dinner;) Wonder if they are connected:?:

No he was first a National Party member of parliament.

Considering they call themselves the coalition, no one in the wider public can tell the difference between the two parties! Kudos to the WA Nationals for splitting from the Liberal overlords! :p

No of course not. But parties that generally entertain wild theories, conspiracy's and misinformation generally tend to do it better. An unfortunate side effect is the other side tries to catch up in the arm race!

Sorry I don't belong to any Union or political party. However I would like to point out Australia has its own 1 percenters who are trying to hijack political debate in Australia like their kin in the USA have. Just remember the Republicans and the 1 percent has effectively destroyed their middle class in the USA, which has resulted in the USA becoming a shell of the country it once was.

We sure do! Oakeshott, Windsor, Wilkie........you can add the Greens but I concede they hold more than 1%. Won't be long before they poll more than the ALP.
