Alan Joyce Gives Update on Qantas Operations

Debatable. Certainly their international operations wouldn't be impacted since the QF flight ticket could be exchanged freely for another ticket in the event of a strike per MC99/EU261.

All the international operations were affected except flights operated by Jetconnect (which was most of trans-Tasman at that stage).

If anyone on this forum would know about this subject, it’s @jb747!

How is it debatable? All crews overseas were stood down. I was in Singapore at the time, and my 24 hours turned into a few days.
In theory you should have been able to convert that ticket over to a BA or SQ one and fly back to Australia. If the airline was unwilling to honour that request you should have been able to buy the ticket yourself and claim it back against the airline under MC99.

I don’t think jb747 had a ticket - at least not the type you are thinking about. 😊

I doubt jb747 would have had a passenger 'ticket', as he was a QFi pilot.

Eight years ago to be exact (my calendar is still stuck in 2019 since I fail to recognize COVID and its effects on aviation).

What a weird comment. Anyway Mr Time Warp, eight years is still generally considered more than "a few"

They were, and since the entire airline was shut down rather difficult to do, not to mention huge impact on capacity to GET people into/out of Australia without QF. They may only be 40% or so of the current international, but 12 (or is that 8?) years ago, there was less capacity from many of the currently dominant foreign carriers into Oz like QR. UA only had probably a third of its current ops, your beloved country's airline, AC, didn't fly here, etc. Finding seats for impacted pax on top of already booked pax was probably very difficult.
