Alaska Airline 40% More Bonus Miles

Can someone, anyone, who has made a recent purchase of points through Points.com for any airline points, please let me know which cards and what type of billing address they have used for the purchase. I am chasing my tail on this.

Have you tried purchasing points over the phone with Alaska? I have a memory of someone purchasing that way. Not sure if it will help you or not.

Just brought 10,000 AS points this morning through points.com ...using my aussie Virgin CC...used my address here in Perth...no issues. Brought the points to change from flying PER - LAX on Qantas (55K ea) to PER - LAX - SEA on Cathay (60k ea)

Thanks for the heads up blackjacknz. I have been trying to get this fixed for a few months, points.com just declines everything I try, even though the credit card companies assure me they are approving it. I got an email this morning saying the have escalated my issue to the risk department for investigation. Hopefully it will be sorted out. Some of the emails and brain dead reasons I have been given have been mind boggling.

anyone booked AUS-USA via DXB? looks like you have to book as 2 awards which reduces the value to extremely poor.

I think you can do la - DXB - hkg on Emirates....just can get to aus on the same ticket.

I am still unable to buy points for Alaska, have tried 5 different credit cards all declined, all the card providers say they have approved the purchase but it is being declined by Points.com

They have FINALLY fixed the issue, and I am now able to buy points through points.com

search through AS miles program - 100k one way. good luck trying to find more than 1 seat, and one seat even is a nightmare.

The guy you speak about did not have a straight booking with AS it was bit complicated, I've done 2 long haul using AS miles no probs at all.

Currently waiting to buy more AS miles when next offer is available.

No can't hold flights on AS.

I've used AS miles before worked well.

Now I'm trying to find out if its possible to go from HGK to Europe or even DXB, the details on AS site re not clear on this.

How long does it take for miles to hit your account after purchasing ?
Is it usually 1+ days ? If so I suspect we might struggle with CX those J seats for Aus-HKG don't tend to last too long once they become available...

Each time mine posted next day.

Finding J seats using AS miles very difficult, JAL gives best show for CX seats availability they say. Calling AS toll free can help if your dates are flexible.

I booked last 2 x J Jan. last CNS/HKG/CNS on CX for May 2014 by calling AS, was lucky.

Can someone remind me of the the top of their head - is there a limit to the number of miles or bonus miles one can buy? Ie can I get 40k + 16k bonus then do it again for a total of 112K miles? And do you have to have an account for a minimum number of days prior to points purchase?

No limit to points purchased. Not sure about the second one sorry.

Usually your account has to be open for 12 days.

No limit to the amount you can buy.
