Alaska Airline 40% More Bonus Miles

Takes between 2 days and 10 to be able to buy miles, if CX flights need to find seats first then call and hope AS have them.

I purchased 120K AS miles during the Dec 35% extra offer, points arrived in my account in 48 hours, booked 2 x J CNS/HKG/CNS on CX cost was AUD$3100

Flights in J OZ to USA very hard to find, better result is going via HKG.

Does AS work on a zonal system like AA ?
As in would anywhere on east coast to HKG return be the same price ?

Is this what you are after (on CX) ?

There is no port-specific routing.

It would, I guess, depends on the partner airline itself.

CX, for example, would include all 50 States and Canada (LAX, SFO and YVR).

If its the same price for HKG-JFK as it is for HKG-LAX then you'd think that CNS-HKG would be the same as MEL-HKG ?

My simple mind would agree to that supposition.... until corrected by someone else.

It's the same amount of AS miles 120k in J from any OZ seaboard port that CX flys from via HKG into any USA city they go into, YVR, ORD, SFO, NYC and Lax, its incredible being one price considering the distances. Can have stopover in HKG too.

You could also request a free connection (on AS) to the departure port of your international flight.

Departing JFK but holidaying in LA ?

For members redeeming an award on a partner airline, connecting travel will be provided by Alaska Airlines to the nearest gateway city of the airline partner at no additional charge

i was interested in this too - but does it have to be an AS flight? or can it be operated by AA? otherwise looks like alot of SFO/LAX etc-SEA-destination

Thanks for this. I was angling towards a June travel redemption. Looks like that's a no go.

Confirmed on the phone that that is limited to Korean Air, as you would expect from the grouping on the page.

Im looking for my mum for some J seats to US . Whilst CX have little or none for the dates I am looking at I can see quite good availability on Delta. Plus its less points.

Still waiting for account to let me buy. Now air alaska showing no delta flights at all for any dates between SYD and LAX.

Solved my own mystery. Id been searching for one J seat for mum SYD - JFK . Decided it was a good deal and thought I might join her and started searching for two. The delta seats will only show when looking for 1 seat!!

I just tried to change my paypal billing address however it is locked to Australia. So if you are looking to change it to your US address, YMMV!

Use the JAL mileage website (free to join).

It's search is fantastic for cx availability showing how many seats available on all flights at different times and with one click you can search the next day/previous day.

Alaska will allow mixed class travel so look from Hong Kong - US first to see how many seats then do Syd/per/Mel etc to Hong Kong.

The agent will say there is only 1 business seat available as they are searching all the way from aus to US. Get them to break it up. Still comes under the 60,000 miles for Business award.

Looks like I wont be going anywhere, got the dreaded declined purchases email.

Can you help me with the following query?

I am having problems purchasing miles from Alaska Airlines in the current promotion due to credit card issues.

I am being told that points.com do not accept credit cards now outside the US or Canada as of the 3 March! Anybody else have any purchase issues after this date?

Correct; Aussie cards etc not accepted now. See discussion on this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/cheap-international-airfares/fantastic-alaska-airline-miles-deal-57584-16.html#post1002901

wow this sucks, i guess i'll be skyping my mate in america shortly

From my reading, there are (quite tight) limitations on the ability to transfer miles, and there is also a cash cost. But that was only from a quick reading. Happy to be corrected.

Yes I read same. I did read that a mileage plan member can buy miles for another member. Do you think it not possible for an American credit card holder to put there details in on our behalf ?

edit. As I was planning to hit up a friend also.
