Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

Who is your sponsoring program for the e-Rewards transfer, don't think I have seen this one?
Its one Ive had for ages with multiple redemption partners e.g AA Iberia UA IHG HH.Dont use it often but can usually run up enough to keep a program open

Rang Alaska, but they weren't helpful. Asked me to contact points.com who dont seem to have a phone number. So, have to go through email.

Has anyone had experience dealing with points.com?
 
Strange. Have you confirmed with your bank whether the transaction has hit your card? They should be able to check if there was an attempt for AS to take the money (or not).

I googled 'alaska airlines buy miles posting error' - there were a few threads. The top thread wasn't much help, but it mirrors your experience. Maybe worth checking the other threads? Alaska: Posting error when trying to buy miles - FlyerTalk Forums
 
Shows as pending transactions on the cc.
Bank says they have gone through.

Points.com asked me to contact Alaska, lol. So, i am stuck in this loop.
 
I figured out what the issue was. My middle name on my credit card was abbreviated to a letter instead of the full name. When i put in my full name, it matched my full name of the Alaska account.

So, i finally got this to work 😊

Currently in Singapore and JAL just canceled our flight to Tokyo at 21:50 tonight. Not sure how to proceed..should I contact JAL or Alaska mileage plan?

First stop, JAL. Call them. Japanese airlines generally go OTT to look after pax. I'd be surprised if they haven't arranged an alternative for you. As it's the day of departure this will now be under airport control, so directly able to be actioned by JAL. (If this had been a couple of days out, they may refer you back to AS.)

If no luck there, see what other availability there is on the AS website. There may be none (you can try to other Japanese ports, if any). Then give AS a call.

Called the JAL Singapore number. On hold for 80 mins but they booked us on the next available flight so an extra 1.5 nights in Singapore than originally anticipated.
First time in Singapore so can use the time to eat some more good Hawker food 👏😬

Are they covering your hotel? At least your insurance should cover it + meals. (See if you can get confirmation of the cancellation from JAL when you check in at the airport.)

No they did not say anything about covering the hotel . Also had to book another night as the flight they re-booked us on was delayed 13 hours. So 2 extra nights in Singapore than originally planned. I will lodge a claim with my insurance Tomorrow and see what happens.

One bonus is that JAL asked my girlfriend for her Mileage bank number so I think we might get awarded mileage as if this was a revenue ticket. I checked my account but nothing there yet.

if the ticket was originating in SIN they might have assumed you were living there. If you are away from home JAL should have covered the hotel.

Your boarding pass may indicate if it was a revenue ticket (J, D, C, I class for example)
 
Anyone know if J award seats will be back on AS now Qantas is finally releasing more OZ to USA return?.
 
Has anyone successfully booked a flight from North Asia (e.g. South Korea) to Melbourne using Alaskan miles recently? I cant see any availability on their website

you are only permitted to fly from Asia to Australia on Cathay Pacific. And 'Asia' in this context = 'Hong Kong only'.

Cathay awards don't show on line with Alaska. You'd need to find availability via say the Qantas tool, or AA's tool, or even BA. And then call Alaska to book it for you.

however... (a) Alaska's availability doesn't necessarily match what you can find onany of those sites and (b) Cathay has married many of its award seats so that flying to or from Hong Kong only is difficult. Normally you have to fly beyond hong kong (two sectors, ie AU-HKG-xx_). So on a couple of fronts, if can be difficult to find CX availability via Alaska.

You might be able to find AU-HKG-USA. That is a married flight segment that will show on QF. But whether the availability can also be seen by Alaska you'd need to call and ask.

So If I book a flight from ICH to Mel. It will be 22,500 (asia to asia on biz) + 30,000 miles (HK to Aus) ?
 
I've been trying to use some of my Alaska miles but I keep running into a roadblock on the Passenger Information page of the booking engine.

It errors out saying " The request was not successful. See the red message(s) below and make changes as needed." Only problem is that there is no red message or any error with the info I provided. Anyone had this issue before?
 
I have been a member of AS Frequent Flyer programme since approx 1989. I have also been a QF FF member since 1990 (or there about)

Once I moved to Australia in early '96 I found it 'Unbelievably Difficult ' to use AS Points (about 250K worth) to travel back to the US. AS said 'Call QF' QF said 'Call AS' we don't know about seats/programe/availability etc.
So for years, they sat dormant, ALL too hard, so booked commercial tickets.

Should have purchased more Miles when $ at parity, but as a newly widowed single mother, that was the last thing on my mind.

I would like to combine my three daughters account balance, to mine, but its a very expensive exercise + Tax.

Fast forward to approx 18mo ago when I asked AS if I could use my points to buy at least 'Hotel room' in Vietnam or Car Rental in Hawaii?. Nope ! Not two weeks later, I find on their website, a host of Travel related areas to 'Use my Points/Miles !!! No Notification what so ever!
I will now be looking at using said points to use for Costa Rica trip. I don't care about 'The value' of these points, I just want to 'Use them' ...now I can !! Happy Days :)
 
I'm surprised you're having difficulty using your points for flight redemptions, Alaska has a lot of partners across all three alliances with many of those operating in and out of Australia. There's certainly excellent value to be had.
