Alaskan Airlines codeshare seat selection issue

Hello. I have booked codeshare Classic reward seats for SFO-Austin. I have obtained the Alaskan booking reference from Qantas and I have access to my booking on the Alaskan website. I am wanting to pay for "premium class" seats. I can select the seats but a generic error comes up at the payment screen. Same thing if I choose exit row seats. I have chosen our first class seats on another flight no problem. I'm assuming this is some sort of Classic reward/ QF/ Alaskan glitch. Does anyone know a way around this? Given my height, I really need the extra leg room and happy to pay for it. Also had no issue doing this on an American Airlines codeshare. I've also tried doing it through RJ, BA etc with no success. I was going to try through the Alaskan app but it won't even let me sign up for some reason. Yes, I've tried different browsers too.

Thanks in advance for any tips or tricks.

Try using there live chat, they were pretty quick to help me all though questions weren't that complex

Codeshare's are unusual with classic awards
Do you have a QF flight number(=codeshare) or an AS flight number on the AS operated flight?
Any QF Oneworld status?

Did you try the AS app?

“Partner award” rather than codeshare?
Any QF Oneworld status?
Not sure what if any real benefit there is for non AS status members (QFF lost MCE on AA - despite the QF/AA partnership…🤷‍♂️).

I have an AS flight number. Maybe my terminology was incorrect and it is more of a partner reward flight than codeshare. But it was booked via Qantas using points.

Yes I tried the app but it appears I can't use the app without signing up to their mileage program and I am also getting a generic error trying to sign up to that (via the app and desktop). Not having much luck here with Alaskan.

And yes, partner reward is probably the terminology I was looking for. Booked via Qantas using points.

Thanks

You should be able to use the AS app in “Guest” mode to manage bookings. I’ve been able to view and manage several paid bookings on AS (with my QFF details attached to the booking).

You definitely DON’T want to login as a MVP member unless you had status with AS and could bestow some additional perks onto the booking.

I’ve found the AS app / phone website often can’t do things that the desktop website can.

That happened on my last seat selection with AS.

Thanks for the app tip. It was kind of hidden but I did manage to add my trip without having an account. Managed to change seats. Only way it would accept payment was apple pay which has gone through at my end. However, my booking still has the original seats allocated. But the upgraded seats I chose and paid for are now blocked out. See what happens I guess- maybe it will take a while for it to update within my booking. Thanks again
