Alcohol-Free Drinks

Just cut out the beer.

A couple of red wines won't harm you, and I've lost 5 kilos in the last couple of months doing this. I wasn't a big person to begin with, but feel/look much better.

Just stay off the beer (light or otherwise). If in doubt, drink water.
I like beer, it is perfect after a long day in the heat. Red wine in a Cairns summer is just not on.

Maggie Beer has a good range of non-alcoholic wines. I personally just stick to the water, because I'm also trying to avoid the extra sugar that often goes into non-alcoholic drinks.

I use a soda stream and a range of cordials to get something pleasant to drink.

I don't mind Carlton Zero, but I do mind paying $11.50 for a six pack when full strength beers are cheaper. And here in dry Somaliland the staple (malty but a bit sweet) is Bavaria 0.0. It's that or nothing. One makes do.

Good non alcoholic wine. You got me there.🤔

cheers skip

Seedlip do premix cans now which is great to take to parties. Worth checking Lyres out also; they do all of the spirits alcohol free so you can prepare a favourite coughtail (sans ETOH). I like to make up a punch with frozen fruit, soda, splash of juice and a can of ginger beer.

Anyone know the recipe for that lemon & mint welcome drink they serve on Qatar Airways in J? It's delicious, refreshing and non-alcholic.

I quite enjoy the Cathay Pacific non-alcoholic beverage they serve on request.

For some reason that just reminded me of the coffee with cardamom they serve on RJ in J as a welcome drink. That's delicious too.

Hi Ansett, for similar reasons to you I have been looking at alcohol free options. I've recently tried, experimented with and compared some of the Lyres range, Altd Spirits and Brunswick Aces. Of these, for a "gin and tonic" style drink, I found the Brunswick Aces most palatable. When mixed with a good tonic and using a recipe as per their recommendations, it makes an "adult" (i.e. not all sugar and fruit) drink that has some mouthfeel and complexity (my preferences was the "Hearts" rather than the "Spades"). I found the other brands a bit overly green and perhaps even chemical in their aftertaste, with little mouthfeel unless using a very sweet tonic. I didn't mind the Lyres American Mall with ginger ale as per their recipe either. It does capture some of the smoky/woody/grain flavours quite well.
Of course, taste is a very personal thing and YMMV but hope this helps.
I used Capi and Fevertree mixers.
