What if we all chip in a few $? Then the armchair experts* can have a real go at running "Affitalia". :D

*I'll include myself in that sweeping generalisation.

A few $? Even if all of us put up a house deposit worth (hardly a few dollars), we wouldn't have nearly enough to buy AZ, let alone enough to go and start running it to appease all parties (government, unions and customers).

I don't think the price would be high.Problem is you almost certainly would have to take over the debt.

me thinks the main value for a suitor would be the bilateral agreements and landing slots that Italia has.

With the slow down in growth a few airlines are going to have to go bust. there's going to be a lot of parked planes the way things are going.

Last week, airline employees voted against a plan to cut jobs and salaries that would have allowed it to secure new funds. ...

It's always interesting to see a company/employees choose certain death over salary cuts and a future. I understand it's a very hard decision to make, but the alternative to the cuts look far more bleak.

I rang the 1300 number yesterday and they said everything is normal and when/ if there is any change they send out emails.

What's the route?

At this stage flights still seem to be running, but perhaps you might consider buying a cheapie ticket on Ryanair as a backup? Or buying a refundable ticket on another airline?

I also have a booking on AZ in September. Just checked web site and flight still taking bookings so I suppose that's a good sign!
