All redemption flights out of Perth waitlisted

Hi AFF, happy new year firstly.

I'm having a bit of an interesting finding. It seems I cannot book a redemption flight Perth to Singapore in the month of December. Eg woke up early today 8am AWST and cannot do, PER - SIN for any dates in December etc incl 22/12/23. Is there something new introduced that I don't know about that flights are auto waitlisted now? The connecting flight out of Singapore is there.

Oh for transparency though it shouldn't matter, I'm Silver. I am overseas ATM though in case that matters.

I've been looking for ex-AU flights over the last couple of days and have noticed this too. Perhaps they're reluctant to release the flights so that they can sell the seats for full-revenue customers due to the current high demand. This was the same for flights ex-BNE, CNS, DRW, SYD, MEL, PER, and DRW. The only AU city I saw non-waitlist availability on in December 2023 was ADL.

Hmm I could find MEL to SIN early Dec now. But I swear I found the same thing you did as well. All blocked out for some reason. Thanks for confirming I'm not going crazy as never had this problem before.

That’s reassuring you found the same thing too. I was wondering whether people were nabbing them early but it had been going on everyday for so long. Also no premium economy flights available from December 13. Not even waitlisted. I suspected they were trying to sell them first.

Yeah I thought the same. So this morning set the alarm to check and made sure I was online during the cutover. Still same. I'm going to try waitlist anyway and see what happens. Not sure if I can stomach paying RRP for J.

And now the Saver option is gone too for some days 🙃

Ex-Mel there are savers up til 13th Dec but after that it's all waitlist, including 29th Dec which was released today.

Almost all airlines are withholding saver level reward seats from mid-December onwards. Same for QR, QF, EK, etc.

My guess is the chances of getting saver reward seats over Christmas 2023 are going to be very slim.

Thats interesting insight on other airlines as well. Guess the good times of booking SQ during christmas is over ;( Note however (for me anyway) its the PER to SIN thats the problem. SIN on wards however there are bookings available for the month of December.

Indeed. My claim wasn't meant to be a blanket one for all routes, but for the ones that Australians want (ie into/out of Australia — which seems to be one of the most in-demand and therefore restricted set of routes in the world).

I wondered if they are waitlisting until the January flights are out. So people can book a return and they save some strain on the call centres.

Not sure tbh. For me each time I travel in December, I always book 2 single bookings. Never once called to add to the outgoing as was quicker to just book 2 separate.

I hope they are not copying Qantas who as far as i can tell didn’t release any business class seats to Europe for 3 entire months this year.

I thought I was going mad this morning when all I could see was waitlist across the board for Jan 2024. What time is the cutover ?

One of my waitlisted bookings has changed status to Reserved. PER-SGN on 23/12/2023. Economy only though. Not sure if I should confirm the booking now as I have to pay $75 later to cancel it.

Can I ask what level Krisflyer you are? I’m only Silver and not seeing anything myself atm.
