Any free alternatives to Expert Flyer that provide info on availability per booking class for a specific flight?

Make a dummy booking. Many (but not all) airlines take you to the seat map before payment

BCD Travel has a page that will give you availability per booking class for flights.

Once you perform a search, hover over the 'Availability' link on each flight to see availability for each class code.

It's not as intuitive as ExpertFlyer (clunky UI and captcha) but it's free.

Most classes are showing 9 for a flight I'm booked on. Does that mean 0 or 9+ availability? Can't be 9 J seats left with 1 week before travel

9 will mean 9 or above (9+).

Airlines will have an arbitrary number (usually 7 or 9) as the maximum number of seats that will display as available for each class code via GDS, even if more seats are available. They will never publish the absolute numbers (unless there is less than 9 seats available, in which case you get an accurate view on absolute availability).

Thanks all. QF574/43 PER xSYD DPS 22/1/20. Im booked in saver bus (D ?).

The BCD tool has been enhanced. :(

Gone completely.

The old link directs you to something called Tripsource.

You need to be a BCD customer to access Tripsource.

I was able to access and the schedule search function lists only the available flights.

There's no info on loadings or availability. Not even prices.

The ultimate enhancement.

Dammit.

Now to find another free source. Or maybe I'll just have to go one of the paid ways

ok thanks

Also used to look up STA travel website for fares over 49 date combinations. Dates chosen + & - 3 days, so 7 days out & 7 days back, which sometimes showed an unpopular day or routing, therefore much cheaper, sometimes only a day or so outside preferred dates. Since STA have folded, have not been able to find similar online anywhere. Any suggestions anyone. Thanks in advance.

Two things come to mind. ITA Matrix will do you +/- 2 days. But also googlelfights, once in the calendar view, will display departure prices across the whole calendar display. Sometimes they have a few days a month which cheaper than the others, indicating a different route or airline.

ITA Matrix allows one to search flights over more than +/1 two days. Some will say it's outdated but I like it very much.

A problem since 'the virus' seems to be that airlines operating less frequently on route X do not always have their flights loaded into the ITA database. I am unsure why.
