Yes - some phone staff don't know certain parts of the upgrade systems. I have had a couple say to me when I ask that they would like to know the answer and they put me on hold while they phone their help desk.
At the end of day there are some mysteries in the upgrade process which we will never know.
I do have a contact at Qantas but he is another area - still IT related. He doesn't know about the upgrade questions but says that all of the Altea software stuff - eg upgrades/waitlists/yield etc is outsourced to Amadeus who write and rewrite the software amendments etc to Qantas's specifications
