Could majorly change retail in Australia. Or not.

It's Official: Amazon Australia Will Start Selling Products On Thursday! - Lifehacker Australia

It looks like Amazon will be launching for Black Friday after all. Sort of.

We've just received word via an Amazon Marketplace seller that Amazon will start an internal testing phase with a small number of customers from 2PM AEDT Thursday, November 23.

The internal email above was sent to select sellers today. It reveals that Amazon Marketplace users will need to have their pricing, stock and details up to date to participate and will begin receiving orders from this date.

It's not yet clear how many Aussie customers will be included in the test group or how they will be selected. Nevertheless, it seems certain that some Aussies will be buying products from Amazon on November 23. Bring it on!

There have been plenty of tradespeople at the Melbourne warehouse this week getting things ready.

They seem to have been launching for a while now.

I doubt it will change much in reality. But then I've never been in a Costco.

I’m involved with a company that has applied for Amazon in Australia. They just received an email yesterday (23/11) to say that they have been accepted to the seller program.

It looks like it could be some weeks or maybe even a month away given that suppliers need to upload products and also each supplier needs to verify identification.

It’s up and just made my first purchase on an item that’s almost impossible to get here and costs a whole lot more if you can find them. Swimwear.

I've checked out a few things as Christmas presents and I can get them cheaper elsewhere....

I guess they don’t want a website crash.
The things I’ve looked at are great prices. If you can even get them here in Oz.

I'm finding its not as cheap as other online retailers for a lot of items I would be interested in.

Amazon aren't here to shake up the industry, they'll just milk it like everyone else does, and setup the dodgy tax schemes to ensure profit!

That was my experience as well.
I was looking at a new Sonos unit.
They don't even list the new One, and other items are more expensive than say Videopro

I had a little look this morning, and doesn't seem very impressive so far.
