Amending Velocity reward on QR

Needing some expert advice please. I've been searching for Business class awards on Qatar from Europe to NZ. Very slim pickings. So when I saw 2 seats CDG-DOH-ADL I snapped them up. What I really wanted/needed would be the same flight but onto AKL. So the flight would be CDG-DOH-ADL(technical stop only)-AKL. The flight number from DOH-ADL is the same as ADL-AKL. So after booking, I then saw today via Velocity website Business class is available ADL-AKL on the same day we arrive into ADL about 1.5 hours after landing. I Rang Velocity and the very helpful agent tried his best to add this last segment to my booking but the "system" wouldn't allow it due to the short time between arriving and leaving? He said he could try cancelling the existing booking and try rebooking the full route...but he wasn't confident I wouldn't lose out completely. Happy to just get paid economy flights ADL-AKL, but would prefer to do the trip to AKL in QSuites . Any suggestions boffins?

Is ADL-AKL available the next day or two? You Could stop a night or to in Adelaide.

I'd send a tweet to https://twitter.com/qrsupport and see what they say about booking the ticket separately, adding to PNR, then connecting the luggage through.

If that works you'll pay as a separate award then, but it will get you what you want.

Nobody will be able to confirm about what will happen if you cancel; that whole route may not even be available as an award, but even if it is, cancelled award tickets don't always go back into the pool.

Thanks, sadly I used up all my velocity points getting to Europe and back at the pointy end of the plane. Certainly won't be cancelling the flight without first having another confirmed award being available.
