Flew Mel to Per on Sunday in J and there were no amenity kits handed out, the kids won't be happy when I get home.

Ditto for me last Friday but on the return (yesterday) I was asked if I wanted one, though with words along the lines of 'to use on the flight' - I'm sure they would have given me one regardless but I declined anyway. So it seems a bit hit and miss (perhaps they are trying to match QF for inconsistency :D)

I've always been offered one 'to use on the flight'. I haven't flown J since December though. Was the OP on a 737 or A330?

They apparently now only offer them standard on night flights. however you can ask for one or for something specific that you require.

I flew back on Friday 3pm PER-SYD and I only saw them offered to three customers, cabin was 80% full in J. I though it was strange but didn't want one so didn't ask. Was either XFA or XFB based on the poor seats and Video system.

I asked inflight, they are now "on request" during the day... so don't forget to request one!

I flew to MEL-PER in Dec on an A330 and (now that I think about it) wasn't offered one. Which is a pity as I give them to my nieces and nephews.

I will remember to ask in future.

The cynic in me suggests that this will be managerial speak for looking at the figures for numbers of amenity kits used in a few months time. Getting rid of the amenity kits being the next logical step due to poor uptake by passengers

FWIW I think Amenity kits in general are a huge gimmick and particularly so on trans-cons. I'll take them if given but it wouldn't have the slightest bearing on my choice of carrier.

yeah they are pretty much un-necessary on a daytime transcon. Sure on an overnight I like to brush my teeth before landing so that's handy. I also use the eyeshades sometimes

We were in J on XFA or XFB MEL-PER yesterday and no amenities kits were handed out, or even offered/mentioned by the FA. Will have to remember to ask for one next time!

I was on XFA/B on Monday BNE-PER, asked for a kit and was told they would bring me one. Still waiting.....guess I've missed out

If the reports are true, they may want to update their website...

[h=3]A330 Business Class lie-flat seat features include:[/h]
  • Luxury leather
  • Generous recline to lie-flat seat
  • 60 inch (152cm) seat pitch
  • International style amenity kit, plush blanket and pillow
  • Seat back in-flight entertainment system

The amenity kits are now only offered on night flights, though they are available on request during the day.

well I think amenity kit was a real nice touch, for a person like me who does not travel in J internationally given the high cost, being able to enjoy all luxuries of J while traveling using point upgrade is fun. shame to see the kit go..

unless VA was to join *A / fly to India on a shiny new 787 :p one can dream, cant he

They're not gone, just now available upon request.

I flew MEL-PER last week and requested one, and was told they don't offer them any more and they did not have any on the flight. (terrible J product too, but that's OT and I will post about it where appropriate)
