There are American Airlines flights from Sydney to New York City’s Newark airport for less than A$1,000 – specifically from A$994.
You can find the sub A$1,000 fares scattered around August/September/October/November 2016 - perfect for the Northern Hemisphere fall..

AA SYD LAX equipment 777-300 ER,

3-4-3 in Y for 13 hrs ? no thanks I stick with Delta's 3-3-3 .... I might even buy a economy-plus to get better leg room.... or J, but that's different story

Remember that you SG and WPs would be eligible for MCE seats on AA flights.

Happy wandering
