Those 10k points were finally credited to my FF account this morning. 10 weeks after everyone else did but right within the deadline.

Pfft Regardless, Amex still suck!

Thanks to you guys I went in guns ablazing when I activated my card. They made sure I'll get the bonus points after my first spend.

I tried to pull a swifty saying I applied with the 20,000 point offer with no card fee for the first year, but I don't think it worked. Lady said I'd get 17,500 points, but when I asked "so if I have to pay the annual fee, when do I have to pay it?" she responded by saying that she doesn't know if I'll have to pay it, but I'll find out on my next statement.

Here's hoping - and good luck to the rest of you!!

Just an update as promised; Today I called Amex Hyderabad after getting a little impatient with no contact being made (after I sent a written request to have the $195 fee reversed). It's been about a week since I sent the fax and I didn't want to wait until the statement due date.

The consultant promptly said "Dear Sir, there was no need to send in details of the promotion to us...", though this was their original request. He continued, "Sir there is no problem, today we are going to reverse the fee which will show up on your next statement. Please stand by for your confirmation number."

It was rather scripted so I think there must have been some notes on my account after me having made the complaint. He also said I would receive the bonus 12,500k after 8 weeks... And I can confirm the $195 fee has already been credited to my account.

Phase 2 of 3 complete.
