Amex - Blue Moon offer

Can anyone tell me how often these special offers from Amex come along - I'd love to take advantage of this Blue Moon offer but going on holidays in a few days and won't be back until Mid October - and then it will have expired.

It took me about 10 min to fill out the online application form. Do that before you go and the card will be waiting for you when you are back!

Try the following link The American Express® Platinum Card - $450 for the first year.
i wonder if this link is still current and if i apply via it i would qualify for it. the url code appear to be for those upgrade from a gold charge card i think. also is there an option to tick a box to transfer a amex credit card account over to the charge card and still get the current offer of 75k bonus points?

Hope its ok to resurrect this thread rather than start a new one.

Quite a few of us took advantage of the reduced fee of $450 for the first year of the Platinum Charge about 12 months ago and so annual renewal fees will start to be due soon. I'd be interested to know if anyone has been successful in negotiating a reduced fee for the second year of memberhip? If yes, what line of argument did you run to obtain it?

I was offered a $450 credit to retain the card. My wife's pressure to cancel the card due to the $900 fee was the reason given (and my wife's spend on the card was probably the reason they wanted to retain me! :p ).

Thanks gibspmuh, that is what I was hoping to hear. For me I think the card represents reasonable value at $450, but not at $900, so I hope to be able to negotiate a deal as well.
