Amex Centurion Card eligibility in Australia

I just applied yesterday. I just sold a business and put 20-30k per month through the platinum card. I'm not sure if I spend enough on it, but I think I tick the other boxes. So we shall see.
Well done - have u considered a card through a third party like a professional card. Has been known to trigger a Black card centurion offer. There are reasons this can happen. I think in my case it happened this way.

Like one through engineers Australia? Or am I misunderstanding “professional card”

220k per year didn't work for me🫥, guess I need to hold plat for a little longer.

Will be super interested to see how this goes!

From everything I've seen/read the last few months, looks like you need circa 500k in genuine personal spend, or 2-5 Million if business spend....

My 2M in mixture of personal/bus hasn't' worked yet...

I'm at 3M mixed and still no dice

I'm definitely on the lower scale with an annual spend of about $150-220k (personal Platinum) held the card for about 7 years and still NOTHING.

I've made about 3 expressions of interest and obviously silent

On the Rolex front....

I have run an experiment in each of the 6 countries I've been in over the last few months, and each time I find a Rolex dealer and ask about availability...

Seems to me that availability is rubbish globally!

Pretty much every time the answer was : "we are doing expressions of interest/go onto a list" ... just like here in Aus...

Have you found a specific country that can sell me one of the decent Rolex's at (or at least close to) list price, over the counter?

By reasonable I mean Subbie, Daytona, GMT 2, Deep sea, Yacht master..
I remember walking into the Hour Glass Melbourne in April/ May 2017 and they virtually had every single Rolex in stock except Daytona's.

They were offering 5-10% off and I regrettably didn't purchase anything as I really wanted the new DJ 41mm and they only had the DJ II in stock

I refuse to buy grey market especially $10K+ over the limit, the worst part is that employees and AD are in on inflating the pricing, Financial Times has an article that explains it all I tried to buy a Rolex and fell into a grey market for luxe watches

I also heard a 'rumour' of an exact scenario happening at Watches of Switzerland Melbourne. Wife worked at WOW & husband was buying virtually all the stock (& highly sort after pieces) using different people's details and then would flip them and made something like $100-200k profit (how true it is, I have no idea but would explain the empty windows and waiting list with no call backs even 3-4 years after putting name down)

Did you have to deliver fins to Amex, to get to that level? Once I hit 300k balance outstanding, they called and said "no more soup for you.. unless we can see your fins.." so now I keep the balance outstanding at any point below that, even it means pushing cash across b4 its due...

I'm keeping my balance at <250k and paying early as well if not due. so far no questions

If this is true. Charmers the not so charm should introduce CGT from watches.

It already exists. If flipping watches is how you make your income, you should be paying tax on that profit. No need for new laws on that.

Just buy an OMEGA watch instead, your wont be disappointed and the stores actually have stock in the display cabinets

I gave up on Rolex last year - the whole thing is a sordid marketing joke, the irony being that they're not even very good at it.

I asked to buy a watch at LHR duty free last year. They asked me to put my name down in a queue for 'stock delivery'. I queried - being in a duty free shop - how they proposed to get my watch to me if my future travel didn't include LHR and what the tax implications would be ..... no idea

They then asked if the store manager could contact me - i said "sure" and gave them my business card. I received an email loaded with nonsense words & double speak in which she said she was looking forward to "going on my Rolex journey with me". I told her i didn't want to go on a journey .... I just wanted to tell the time.

Unsurprisingly, I have heard nothing since ;)😁

Seriously, if they want to go down this road they need to learn from the masters in creating demand from a shortage-narrative ..... Apple. All as they are succeeding in doing at the moment is p****** people off. Certainly, most of my colleagues have 'moved-on'.

My Cent relationship manager was of no help. I was surprised to get the Explorer, no sucking up, just an EOI and got it in 2 weeks. The second was a diamond ladies DJ which was probably not in high demand. I send thank you gifts only after I get a watch.
Same here.
The only benefit is not having to worry if the transaction goes through/high enough credit limit etc.

But sourcing the watch definitely came down to the "relationship" we created. Had this prior to the card though. So there wasn't disappointment on my end, but there was when trying to see if anything could be done internationally. A resounding no for both Rolex and Hermes

Are the Centurion travel people better than the Platinum agents (because they’re terrible)?

Yes, although this is down to complete luck. Mine is fantastic, a guy a know reckons his is utterly useless.

Thanks that's great, I was thinking the green card
If it’s your first card best to apply for a fee free card so you can keep it forever wo having to worry about annual fee . Like everyday card . Helps to keep your first card forever for credit score . Also if you use it only to transfer mr points feature don’t matter .

To those that have been invited to the Centurion Card, were your spending on a personal Plat or a business Plat? I am in a slightly odd situation of having 6 Amex cards - 2 business and 4 personal. I spend across them depending on which card earns better (like all groceries and petrol on the DJ card; 100k on the Bus Exp due to the 50k bonus points; etc).

Am I better off consolidating all my spendings to a single card for a better chance? Or at least move everything to the personal cards?

I am currently preferring as much as I can to spend on the Bus Plat with the thinking that if I choose to close it (I already also have a Per Plat), they might offer me a good points offer to keep it. This is how I ended up with both the Bus and Per Plats in the first place.
