I also asked them to demonstrate to me why the extra $ in annual fee were worth the price of admission. They couldnt - falling back on 'well.. it comes with elite status'. Well you know what... my BMW comes with elite status to:)

If you feel the need to have Amex demonstrate it's value it may not be the right card for you

I have probably mentioned it before.....

Yep, you have. A few times. And you’re entitled to your opinion bossreggie but I think your ongoing attacks on Centurion cardholders and their supposed egos has very little credibility.

In this post alone you have claimed that you have the highest possible status with all airlines and hotels that you use (even though some of the world’s best hotels don’t even have a status program), you’ve told us that you wear an expensive watch (only one, really?) and that you have seen people flying in economy and staying in standard hotel rooms and that some of these same people also have Centurion cards. Really - you’ve seen their cards?

In a previous post you told us all about how valuable you were to a certain casino, how you were a very big tipper, etc, etc, all the while claiming that your ego “will never require stroking by the use of a particular card”.

+1 as some would write.

I have held an Amex charge card since 1990 and transferred to three different world offices in that time before I ended up in Australia. I can honestly say that the benefits of Centurion in Australia are perhaps the worst worldwide and represent poor value for money over a Platinum.

First year in Australia I moved my UK Centurion to here. Second year I explained that the levels of service and amenities were so poor in comparison to the UK and US I was comp'd a second year. I handed it back in year three and happily carry my platinum card.

I remain a stalward Amex customer and find it suits my lifestyle, but as to the Centurion card I guess I've been guilty of jumping on the ego polishing wagon at one time in my life, but frankly $4000 is a few very nice meals and on balance my palette always wins :D

Thank you - that was exactly the sort of experience I was looking for and has pretty much sealed my decision to turn down the invitation.

[mod hat on]With approx 1/4 of the posts in this thread removed and a bunch of others edited it is time that a few people understood that taking pot shots at other individuals will not be tolerated :!:[/mod hat off]
