Applied for my first ever Amex charge card today online, got to the end of the process after waiting the '60' seconds and got this message. Seems to be multiple results in the output, so am I approved our so I have to wait 10 days?..confusing..

Thank you for choosing to apply online. Your application will take approximately 10 working days to process and on completion you will be contacted by post.

If you are approved for your new Card you will receive a full set of Terms and Conditions.

American Express Card Conditions and Financial Services Guide
*We are pleased to advise that your application has been approved.

Your Card will arrive in the post within the next 5 to 7 working days, along with a Welcome Pack to remind you of all the benefits that come with your Card, and with being an American Express Cardmember. We'll also tell you how to activate your Card so you can begin using it straight away.

Anyone? I will call them this evening when I get a chance but anyone had this same issue?

I suspect you passed the basic checks than can be done electronically.

However, I believe applications are still subject to a manual review - whether that's normally a "rubber stamp" process I know not - but the reviewer would have to find a reason to deny.

I'd expect a new card in about a week and a half.

It means a manual review is required.
you will hear back within a couple of days.

Strange though as in one part it says I am approved and card will arrive in 5-7 days. Yet first sentence says it'll take 10 days to process. Seems more like a system glitch more than anything as all that output seems to contradict each other..

There is a Sydney number that you can call - new account and they can tell you what's actually going on :-)

It is pretty common... Most organisations give you a conditional approval and then do a few more checks and reserve the right to ask you for further information such as evidence of your income etc.

If you're desperate to know then call. Otherwise, it sounds like you're getting a new card

Got my new card yesterday, no requests for extra info so must have been approved straight off the bat.
