amex-explorer-card-art.pngWhy we like the American Express Explorer credit card

This card lets you earn Amex Membership Rewards points at a solid rate of 2 points per dollar, uncapped, without the higher annual fee of the Amex Platinum card.

You can transfer Amex points to 11 airline frequent flyer programs and 2 hotel loyalty programs, generally at a 2:1 rate. For example, this means you’re effectively earning 1 Velocity Point, Qatar Avios or Cathay Asia Mile per $1 spent on the card.

The $395 annual fee is offset by a $400 annual travel credit that you can spend on eligible flights, car rentals or hotels when booking through American Express Travel.

You'll also receive two free annual visits to the Amex Centurion Lounges in Sydney or Melbourne Airport, plus complimentary travel insurance. See our card guide for the full details:

I phoned them in 2020 and they combined the two programs for me with no question asked.
Same, was easy enough, I did it probably around 2018, when Gateway was 1:0.75 and Ascent 1:1 for transfers to most FFPs.

Are there any plat edge or explorer signup bonuses at moment?
If i recall there always be a low bonus one floating around.
Cant seem to find one

I currently hold a Platinum card and was wondering whether it would it be worth also getting the Platinum Edge card to capatilise on the bonus points for grocery shopping and fuel re-filling, especially due to having multiple cardholders?
Is this a strategy that others have considered?
Also, can points from both cards either (a) be combined, or (b) be transferred to the same frequent flyer account (as it wouldn't make sense to collect points in an orphaned situation)? (I understand that the Edge points can't be transferred to QF.)
I'm assuming that the travel credits from each cannot be combined (although I'd be happy to be wrong)?

I do.
No signup bonus in this situation
Points combine into same Ascent Premium account (so QF possible)
TCs cant be combined

Your realy only getting an extra half a point. I cancelled mine and solely use gift cards (grocery and petrol) purchased at a bigger discount on 1:1 Visa cards. Partner still holds the Explorer for amex offers etc.
