Amex IHG offer

I have an Amex IHG offer for my card. Requirement is $350 spending but my 1 night stay is just $160 a night. Is there anything I could do to take advantage of the offer? Could I buy hotel credit/voucher for latter use? Thanks for any information.

I know that the US Hilton credits for Amex can be activated by purchasing gift cards from individual properties (not general Hilton GCs, though, I believe). YMMV for IHG.

I did this at the Crown in Terrigal, bought gift voucher from the hotel reception as i had a pre-paid booking where i wasn't able to meet the full spend. I've booked another stay in Jan where i intend to use them. Received cash back for them no issues.

however, the voucher is only for that hotel and not any under the IHG umbrella.

Btw, do IHG non-refundable bookings eventually get charged a few days after the reservation gets confirmed?

Or should I call the hotel to charge the room rate right away? A few days to go before it expires.

You could call and ask to make a prepayment for the credit value?

You should call the hotel and make sure you can pay at desk.

All IHG hotels in Australia I have booked charge at the property but depends on the rate as to when it is charged . If pay now non refundable usually charged same day, if pay now cancel free up to seven days beforehand they charge it seven days beforehand.
