Amex just gave me 10,000 points

Right........... I would say a good portion of this whole site is about "huff and puff" ranging from cutbacks with QF to not being targeted for promotions.

I did actually receive a phone call today and yes I received the 10,000 Xmas bonus points :)

I would have preferred the extra 2 points per $1 spent but oh well.

Well this promotion could end up costing me more than the $100 odd that it's worth. Someone (or some people) have called my Australian mobile around 50 times since the beginning of the month [it diverts permanently to a paging service] trying to get in touch, but never leaving a message. Do I huff and puff?

Sometimes being selected for a promotion isn't actually good...

-- Actually, I'm probably wrong. Only 3 phonecalls missed, although online view of my mobile service was showing ~$50 worth of charges earlier. Now it's showing a much more respectable figure.

Still, those missed calls could have been Amex ! Wish they'd leave a message.

Sounds like Amex. I have had about 40 missed calls since the start of December from a private number, decided to answer it today and BAM 10,000 points :)

I am sure you have complained once about something :p
 
As I said earlier, I got my bonus points call last week.

I've just received another (blocked number) call from Amex, telling me they wanted to give me 10k points for being a loyal member. Three quarters of the way through her spiel, she realised I already had been given it.

Their systems haven't improved since last years debacle!!!

I got the call last week (Friday I think) as well, firstly I thought it was a scam, since they needed to confirm my address, so I said is there a way to ensure this really is from Amex, she said I can call the number on the back of my card to confirm and she'd call me back soon. I did, Amex confirmed its a legit promo for select members only and the girl called me back, confirmed my address and that was it.

Haven't got my points yet, but she did say it'll take up to 10 days or something like that, nice Christmas present, thanks Amex :-)

Now for my issues, first one was a while ago now, I called Amex, told them I'd be buying a new car on my card and told them the amount that will get charged, all was expected to be good! After the transaction, a couple of days later they blocked my card since it was "up for review", after being pissed off at them and on the brink of closing my account, since I had other transactions I needed to put through the card, they sped up the review and assured me it wouldn't happen again.

This year after the Rewards Maximiser downgrade, i called and had a long talk to a senior guy, tried to go for a Platinum Amex, but he would only waive the first year fee, not for life like my RM, I was pretty disappointed at the value erosion of the card, but thought i'd keep it till the end of this year and see what promos other companies come up with for the new year.

The 10k free points is a nice bonus, considering I'd just transferred over 50k to Velocity for some flights, so it was a good topup :lol:
 
I would have been suspicious too, if I had not read about this here.

I was asked to confirm day and month of birth.

The points were credited instantly.

Well I have got absolutely nothing from Amex. :(

Except for the Air NZ promo (extra MR points and $50 off r/t flights), which isn't much use for me.
 
yay 10k points here (called 17 Dec) and had the 2 Bonus Points per trans too :)

plat CC, Gold Charge and Corp card on my account.
