Amex Lounge Pass

Hi everyone! So I’m new to all of this. I’ve just received my AMEX Qantas card and looking to use my two free lounge passes in March for me and my husband. But, we also have our two kids travelling with us (2.5 years and 1.5 years). Will they get in for free when we use these passes?

Or is it just best I purchase my own membership and gift these passes to say my mum or something? We won’t fly too much so just thinking whether or not to get a membership for the lounge just yet.

Thanks!
Emma

Another question, the Amex travel credit ($450) can I use this on my mum?

Welcome Emma.
I assume you are referring to a QF lounge, in which case kids also need a pass, so you would need 4 all up. Exceptions are sometimes made (especially if under 2 years of age).

...but that card also gets 2 passes to an Amex Centurion lounge in Mel or Syd international airports and they let kids in free.

The $450 credit can used for anyone. Be aware sometimes prices on Amex site are higher than you could get on QF directly (eg they may not have cheapest fare option).

My favourite card BTW!

Thank you so much for all that! I just jumped onto the Qantas lounge page and got that answer too (stink) lol. I think it’ll be too expensive to justify a lounge membership for one year for us as a family. We have only two flights planned this year.

I’ll just gift the passes to my mum when she flies Qantas, unless me and my Husband get a kid free holiday (very unlikely) lol.

If anyone wants to gift me two passes for March for the Qantas lounge that would help with the kid situation 😂😅

I’m actually loving the card so far! Really cool seeing the points accumulating 🥰

If you accumulate enough QF points from spend or from opening cards, you might find yourself in Qantas Points Club Plus, which then comes with Qantas Club membership. I believe this may allow you to bring in kids aged 17 and under.

Awesome! I will definitely have a look into this
