Amex maximum number of products

we somehow slipped through with a charge, velocity plat, edge and a reserve. all personal cards.

I currently hold 2 x Charge + 2 x Credit + 1 x Corporate Charge but can't say I've tried to apply for a new Amex product in many years - I think I've got enough... :p

FWIW I have a Plat Charge, Edge, Reserve and an Accelerator. Reserve issued only a couple of months ago. It seems the Accelerator doesn't count as its a business card.

I have an Accelerator and it counts for me every time I apply. Maybe it's the reserve that doesn't count?

Im the same.. one of the few lucky ones.... a plat edge, explorer and gold card.

Yours should be an allowed case, as I imagine the Gold Card is actually a Charge card and not a credit card (or was there such a thing as a gold credit card?).

[QUOTE="I was informed by Acquisitions team that an individual may hold 1 x Consumer Charge Card + 2 x Consumer Credit Cards. DJ's AMEX may also be held but does not count towards max number of products permitted. Subject to approval by Corporate Cards team an individual may also hold a Corporate Charge Card in addition to the 1 + 2 std max.[/QUOTE]

Any changes recently on how many cards one can keep active at the same time?

I'm currently having the Charge and Edge, both consumer cards. Thinking to apply for the Reserve, just to offset the annual fee of the Charge card.

Don't want to be knocked back with one hard inquiry on my credit file. Thanks a lot.

1 Charge + 2 Credit was standard so you would be fine. I wouldnt mind adding an Explorer so would be nice if it had improved from that. Apparently some UK members have been allowed a 3rd credit caed

Since this thread has been bumped I thought I'd report back to say I think I finally (after 18 months) worked out why I was knocked back. Turns out the old DJ's store card which I haven't used for 10+ years and thought I'd closed had been silently converted to an Amex - even though they'd never actually sent me a new card.

Just to report back,

Got confirmed via email from AMEX, current internal policy is still max 2 credit cards, and the charge card is not counted. So that's still 1 Charge + 2 Credit Cards.

In the UK, I have 3 credit cards and one charge directly issued by Amex. They can bend the rules when they want to!

I’ve got 2 Charge cards & 3 credit cards. Cancelled my Reserve when I applied for my Explorer as had to stay within the limit of 2 credit cards. Called up after approval and asked if I could have the Reserve back as I wanted to keep the travel Credit.

Must’ve found a sympathetic ear as they granted my request.

Different answer every time you ask then. Anyway I'm not going to bother applying again.

Well the 2 credit card cap (ignoring charge cards) has been that way for many many years. So if you want 2 Amex Credit Cards and only have 1 now I would just go ahead and apply.

I have tried testing on various occasions to get a third due to chasing various benefits, but have always been rung to say that I was approved , but to also ask what card I would like to cancel first. Each time was advised that the CC was a 2 card cap. For some the journey I have also had one charge card (The Plat).

Interesting. So the door there was to cancel and then ask to be re-instated.

All this talk of the DJs credit card not contributing to the 2 card limit is maing me think I should try again after my fail last time when I was told 2 credit cards max and DJs does make up one of those 2.

I already have Charge, Reserve and Edge.

Recommend you do Mr_Orange, I had no problem obtaining DJ Amex with already having Charge, Reserve and Qantas Premium.

I have Explorer, Platinum Edge and a DJs, all approved in the past month.

DJs i guess isnot counted as part of the limit

The limit these days is 1 personal charge + 1 business charge + 3 personal credit. It's a recent change as of a few months ago. The previous limit was 2 charge 2 credit.
