Amex Membership Reward balances

Having different cards, my online account details show 2 MR point balances: 1 for Platinum, another for Velocity.

Not sure if Velocity points are additional to the Platinum balance or just info of points that have been transferred to the Platinum balance.

They'll be two different balances I think.

For instance, I have both Platinum Edge and Amex Discovery card. The Platinum Edge shows balance held in MR, while the Disco shows the number of points transferred to Qantas over the life of the card. I assume Velocity would be similar.
