I recently missed a payment sorta..
bill was 26,800 and normally I just round up and pay 27k but for some reason 26k got stuck in my head (IE bill being 25,800) as being the rounded up amount (therefore 800 short) and I paid 26k well before the due date.
got charged interest on the whole lot but the amex guys were really nice and reversed all the interest charges and no changes to points etc
Most credit providers tend to be quite generous if you're reasonable to them and don't do it too often. I've found this in the past with major bank CCs.
No points gone for me.
I just read it somewhere and thought it was both a harsh and unusual rule. By posting it it could warn others as 40 days is an easy oversight
...
Or even being on holidays .
Ive had remindera set while on holiday. And sometimes those reminders might come up while im on a train or at werird times of the day due yo time differences and ive said ok ill do it later and ive forgotten....
Very easy
You're right, it is easy to miss reminders, but I think the entire thread (and the AFF weekly news) misunderstood your first post.
I think it highlights the risks/dangers of credit products. We all play the points game here, but credit products do need to be taken seriously. It is easy to get into trouble obtaining credit that one doesn't have the capacity/discipline to repay.
