Amex MR points value?

Hi all

My folks have 100,000 MR points and wants to close their account. Suggestions for 'best use'?

I was thinking direct transfer to KrisFlyer (I know redemption fees are high but not too concerned about those). I created an SPG account just in case an indirect transfer would be better for UA or something. Does AMEX ever have bonus 20% offers for transfers etc (ie should we wait to close the account or it doesn't matter?)

My folks want to use the points to go to thailand... obviously not enough for two of them so I'll just buy them tickets through LM and use the Krisflyer (or whatever) points myself later.

thanks in advance

One option is 1 to 1 transfer to VS Flying Club then 2 to 3 transfer to Hilton Honors.

Apologies John as I know nothing about CC points... the purpose of going to HH is to then tranfer them to an airline? Or for accommodation?

Or if into AAdvantage transfer to SPG from where they can become 60k-62.5k AA miles.

KF is a good option but if tax averse,I' d go with Asia Miles or SPG (and then onto AA AS (for CX redemptions) or Marriott)
I think the Marriott (or SPG itself) option would offer more value than VS+HH for hotel redemptions as the transfer rate from VS is not good

Don't forget that some of these programs have points expiry - not a problem if you plan to use the points soon - but could be a problem if you plan on saving them.
