AMEX not accepted or surcharge

You haven't been using theperfectgiftcards purchased via discounted WISH cards to pay this bill all along? Even with AMEX at 1% theperfectgiftcard is still cheaper to use.

The 1% only started last quarter and I was overseas so couldn't be avoided.

Think I got too excited about the above notice as Govt would only still result in 0.5ppd, not 2ppd like normal :(

I save the gift cards for ATO and surcharges greater than 2%. At 2% it's 1c pp which is acceptable to me, having a linked explorer earning 2KF/$1.

EarningPoints vs time spent

I seem to remember that a few years ago there was a page on the Amex site where you could suggest a retailer that didn't accept Amex and they'd get in touch and try and convince them to accept Amex. It pretty much never worked but I was just thinking about it today.
Does anyone know if it's still possible to do this somehow? I've had a bit of a search around but can't seem to find it.

I had this link bookmarked, but the page seems to be giving me some errors.

I have that page bookmarked too but have seen the errors for months. I'm guessing Amex have given up....
I have phoned Amex and given them details of the business where we shop regularly but where they won't accept Amex but am not sure they will do anything.

I think it's more that they've chosen to do things a different way. Over the last few years I've definitely noticed an increase in the number of places that accept Amex. I think that's due to better deals being available from the retailer's bank to accept Amex at a better rate. So rather than chase individual retailers and convince them to make a separate arrangement with Amex directly, Amex has instead worked through the banks that the retailers are already using to increase acceptance that way.
I'd guess that Amex cold calling retailers directly probably wasn't very effective.

amex acceptance in recent years will likely have been improved with bank Amex holders asking merchants if they accept Amex and leadinnkore to accept it. Customer requests are the best motivation for acceptance by merchants.

New Child care wants to charge 4.4% for amex an 2.4% for mc/Visa.

Think I'll have a gentle word to them...

ouch-that is a serious plastic allergy

The local childcare uses Debit Success for automated payment, same 4.4% surcharge for Amex:mad:
