Hi All,

Has anyone tried getting a toddler access to the lounge using a plat charge? e.g. a 2-3 year old.

Thanks,
K.

Thanks. I called up the syd lounge and they said fine. Now my next question is can a supp plat charge holder (eg wife) get in?? Not sure if they can tell the difference between a primary and supp card???

Yep, works in MEL and BNE so far. Haven't tried Sydney yet.

Yes. So in my case, one primary card holder drags a supp card holder and 2 kids in.

Yes. Just go in separately. Maybe a gap of about 5 mins or so. Have done it without a glitch :))

So you went in at the same time as the supp card holder? They didn't check if its a supp card?

Ok thanks for the info. Might do the separate entry just in case maybe.....

Will also give this a try if by some miracle we are early to the airport (family of 4).

There's another thread that covers this, so you might find some further anecdotal evidence there also...

How would they know it's a supplementary card?

AFAIK, the supp card is no different from the main card. It doesn't say supp card on it, so there is no way they'd know the difference.

I have a feeling that since supp cards have different numbers, they wouldn't really bother checking...

Primary cards have a zero as one of the last digits (maybe second last) - Supp cards don't.

A previously stated, this may indicate that a card with a zero is not a supp, but doesn't prove that one with a different digit is not a primary. As soon as a card gets reissued for lost, stolen or fraud, a different sequence (which is what those digits are - last digit being check digit) gets issued. Depending on numbers of supps, number of reissues, a primary card could have any digit at all.

There is no way for anything on the face (or mag stripe, and probably chip as well) to indicate that it is not a primary. To work that out, Amex has to be contacted. If the card is never swiped, then you are safe.

That said, presenting a primary and supp on the same account at the same time would not be smart. With the only differences being the sequences, whilst it is impossible to tell which is primary or supp, it is possible to be sure that one of them must be a supp! In such situations, entry in a manner which did not allow direct comparison of numbers would be prudent. If cards are scanned, or numbers recorded, it is possible that Virgin could check for possible groups, but I doubt that they would consider the effort justified.
