Amex Plat Charge Virgin Lounge Access

I used my AMEX card to access the PER lounge on Friday night. The staff member gave it to a trainee to show how to deal with an AMEX cardholder entry. She told the staff member to click AMEX on the computer and then check the number on the screen and compare to the card, and then check the name and boarding pass, before handing them back to me and welcoming me into the lounge. Yesterday, I used the amex card to access the MEL lounge and also noticed the staff member look at the computer then scrutinize my card. Maybe they have the ability to know what is a supp card now....

You cannot tell a supp from just looking at the number. Unless they register/scan/lookup the card number then they will have no way of knowing.

My plat charge and edge cards +supps have been through about 5 reissues in the last 12 months and there is no discernible pattern to the supp numbering.

I imagine they are checking the charge card against a photo as there are so many types of Amex cards.

In the USA, AA has a printed sheet which displays the types of cards which allow lounge access. I have heard some heated arguments from travellers who think they are entitled to entry when they are not!

I understand you can now bring a guest into the Virgin lounge with your AMEX Charge Platinum - anyone can confirm this?

Also can you still "unofficially" get in as a supplementary card holder?

Trying to make sure my partner (supp Plat Charge) and my son will get in when they both fly Virgin Australia domestically next month...

Yes you can officially bring a guest into the Virgin Lounge. Have done so no problems.

Yes to bringing in a guest and I think your partner and child will gain access also.
