Folks,

I have been an Amex customer since 1995.
I rang up today to enquire about using the annual travel credit one gets if you are an Amex Platinum Debit card holder.
This card costs approx $1450 p/a - which is another story.

The annual travel credit is worth $450 p/a.
I rang to make a booking but was told that the travel credit had just expired - on 11/3/23 in fact and that the credit is renewed when the yearly fee is paid.
I haven't yet been charged this years renewal fee so I asked to be able to still use the $450 travel credit owed me for the last 12 months.

I was told no, that they don't allow that.

Maybe I'm wrong but after nearly 30 years of being an Amex member maybe I should just cancel my Platinum debit card.

Anyone in AFF had any similar experiences with AMEX and any suggestions?

regards

Rono

Sorry to hear that
Do you mean Platinum Charge card?

Maybe you can try one of the tricks from this thread and get some compensation?

Just ring to cancel, and anything less than an acceptable amount points to retain, for e.g. 100k points or 150k points depending on whats acceptable to you, if not, proceed to cancel.

Just an update, I did ring Amex to cancel, was offered 50k worth of points not to but I stuck to my original decision to cancel.
