On Thursday we ate at the Craggy Range restaurant in Havelock North, NZ. We had the vegetarian shared menu, and it was outstanding throughout. Probably the highlight of the set items was the roast haloumi. But as we had booked the Chef's bar (max of 2 people) we got a couple of amazing off-menu items thrown in. Sweet and sour crispy shiitake mushrooms, and a pecorinoo cheese souffle. Both unbelievably nice.
Craggy Range is a beautiful place in the shadows of the Te Mata Peak, with a big cellar door, lots of different wine tasting experiences, accommodation and substantial gardens where they source a lot of their ingredients.
We were driving, so didn't drink much. The menu was NZ$95 each. After everything, we ended up paying just under AU$60. Exceptional value - and well worth the price anyway if we were paying outright.
And the $200 credit was in my account the next day.
Cheers,
Horatio
