Why we like the American Express Platinum Card

With a $1,450 annual fee, this metal card is not for everyone. But the return on investment for the high annual fee is strong, as it comes with a lot of useful benefits! My partner just got approved for the card and I've been added as an additional cardholder. I'm wondering how long it generally takes to activate the Priority Pass membership and hotel status benefits (Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold) for the additional cardholder?

PP happens when the primary applies online and added you as her +1
It says 4 weeks but you do it online and I think it happens within a week

I recently had to call Amex as the primary cardholder to register my additional for PP. They said to call back in 3 days to get the PP number so my additional could set up their account and PP app (which is all you need to get into the lounges), and it worked fine.

If this spreads, looks like more devaluation is on the way. While 20 visits for the primary member isn't too much of a restriction, the 10 for the secondary PP holder seems a bit stingy.

I must say PP lounges were difficult to use for us... They were never opened when we needed them (at least in North America). European experience could be different...

If this cuts down on crowding, I'm all for it. But I doubt it. A typical US churner will have 10+ cards with PP access. I think I have over 15.

Wondering did you set them all up with differrent email addresses etc - Have access via multiple sources and looking at setting up for P2 on Amex USA - do I need to use my already existing account to link it up to or do I get another account to add to

I suspect this isn't about crowding in the lounges, it's more about reigning in a small number of users who are using it excessively and costing a heap.

Overnight I received an email from Radisson Rewards saying they've reviewed my account and downgraded from Premium to Club. (Obviously the tiers are named differently since the divestment of the US holdings and other changes.)

But Amex still lists it as a Platinum benefit, and still lists my accounts as linked. Should I expect this to correct automatically or will I need to push someone? (It's not like I'm at Radissons all that often but I would like it to work if I needed to be on short notice.)

I received the same although I closed my Amex account years ago so clearly I have had the benefit for free. Not that I have used it!

Quite a few FHR properties no longer show up in Amex Travel searches but can still be found through this portal:

I've also had an issue where I couldn't see pricing online but the Plat Travel Services team could give it to me over the phone.
