AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

Late report, but I went to the Vivid lounge on Wed 15 June, around 9pm, and it was open to the public - they were not checking anyone's Amex cards, which made it feel quite a bit less exclusive! The capacity was probably about similar to what you said above. We didn't stay for a drink but just enjoyed the view for a bit.
i was told that they open to public after 8pm or 7pm on weekend, not sure on weekdays

Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes…

Looking to book a Krisflyer points redemption and using the AMEX Platinum card for charges etc. Planning SYD-AMS and the return is LHR-SYD. Does anyone know if this a ”return trip” or does the booking has to be say SYS-LHR-SYD to have the travel insurance provided by the Platinum card?

My understanding is that yes, 2 separate redemptions would activate insurance.
I had no problems claiming for baggage delay in similar (revenue out, redemption back) circumstances

Ah ha. Thanks for that. I thought my proposed trip was ok but wanted to check with the Brains Trust first.

One get a a little gun shy with Insurance Companies these days as I’ve had two claims rejected due to the fine print

Trying to do the FHR US trick at Sentosa Shangri-La Rasa, but running into hiccups

1. US FHR site doesn't even list the property. AU FHR site does
2. AU FHR room results are not the same as booking with golden circle/Shangri-La direct. being a family of 4 booking direct yields better room options, which are actually cheaper.
3. so any way to book direct and take advantage of the FHR perks ;)

Has anyone else recently had their Marriott Gold status acquired via this card downgraded to Silver? According to my Amex account I'm still "enrolled" for Marriott Gold, but my Marriott account has recently changed to silver. I've contacted both Amex and Marriott but both told me to talk to the other.

Just logged in to check and I’m still Gold.

That has been my experience as a new cardholder while trying to set-up my Accor Plus and Priority Pass memberships. AMEX says to contact Accor/Priority Pass. Accor/Priority Pass say to contact AMEX. Incredibly frustrating, but all sorted now.

Interesting as they have both been seamless for me.

I'm keen to cancel my Plat Charge card but won't use my Accor Stay Plus free night for another month. Does anyone know whether cancelling the card would lead to a booked free stay being voided?

I can't speak from experience, but I would expect your Accor Plus membership to remain valid for the rest of the period. The same goes for the other hotel status benefits.

This is my guess also although with Priority Pass they cancel straight away.
Priority Pass for me as a supp was cancelled the very next day the primary card holder cancelled and even my access to the Australian was turned off within a day.
Primary cardholder‘s Accor plus has lasted a week so far. 🤣

Great feedback. Please let us know when it gets cancelled.
