If my husband uses my referral link for the bonus today and I then cancel the card say on Monday will the referral points still sweep over on the 19th March (date points normally sweep over in that account)? Also my card fee for this year came out on the 27 jan will I get the fee 100% refunded if I cancel the card on the 4th march?

your first question regarding receiving the referral - without looking at the T&Cs, i doubt you will get any points if you have already closed your card but i'd call to confirm or look at the T&Cs.

your second question - I called recently to ask when my fee was being charged and was told i have upto 30 days to close for a refund. so is probably possible since it's not long after. I certainly wouldn't go using the travel credit or any other features which are funded via the annual fee and would plead your case and hope for the best.

Yes to the first question.

No to the second question unless it is in the same 'class' of card. But try and see if you can create a referral link for her.

Update - took Dr Ralph's advice and attempted to create a referral link. Was able to click through to the Ultimate Card and apply.

Really quick/smooth application process and I received the 30k Amex referral points before my girlfriend received notification he application was successful.

Very happy and can now keep building towards DONE4 for our honeymoon

The booking will need to be done within 365 days but the actual date of flight can be later. Is that correct?

Yes that is correct. You also need to do the booking via their website. I just search for what I want on Qantas first, then book via Amex site (pricing is always the same).

There was an offer running for this card all of the last 18 months, but it has changed a few times. The sign-on bonus was only 75k or 80k when I got it, so it is better now. Of course it went up to the 100k about 6 weeks after I applied. NO one can guarantee what future offers will be, the current one is the best I've seen for this card.
