AMEX Removing Signature from Back of Card?

The US will be fine. The US-issued Amex Platinum Charge card no longer has Platinum written across it, so shouldn’t be anything new.
The US-issued Platinum Charge card received about 2 month ago has PLATINUM written predominantly at the front (right underneath the big-font AMERICAN EXPRESS on the front at the top of the card

Interesting. Is that the previous version of the card? Here’s an image of the version that’s now out.

I don't know which version it is; I received the card in Dec 2020 and it has the Platinum writing on the front and the signature strip at the back. It has both a 3 digit CVV at the back and a 4 digit one on the front of the card, but I have only used the 4 digit at the front and it has worked every time (never been prompted for a 3-digit CVV).

I have to admit: just checked my wallet and only 3 of my 6 credit and debit cards have signatures on them currently :/

I didn't even bother to peel the activation stickers off both my Amex cards...

The 3-digit code isn't normally used for purchases, it's used for certain types of account access, such as converting AMEX points to a frequent flyer program. At the confirmation page, they'll often ask for that three-digit code, knowing that it's not a code that would normally fall into the wrong hands, unless the physical card itself has been stolen.

Odd that the 4 digit CVV? is still on the front...
That's because the card number is on the back. CVV and card number are always on opposite sides so that a quick photo grab of a card can't get both of them - need better access to see both sides of the card.

I load my card to Apple Wallet and the card sits at home - works 99% of the time but sadly not with Hertz

Is the implication then that signing won't be an acceptable form for payment verification?

As for removing Platinum from the card, I couldn't care less. The only issue I foresee though is trying to get into an airline lounge (non Amex lounge) and they refuse entry because they don't recognise it as the Platinum Charge card.
In the UK Platinum has been missing from the design ever since we went to metal cards. I think it speaks volumes that I didn't even notice that!

It's not on the back either. On the top right corner on the back of my card it does say 'credit' which is interesting given it's a charge card.
Probably going the way of some Mastercards. Embossed numbers seem to be going, I recently received a card without a signature panel....
Embossed numbers are dead'ish, although 2 cards I received recently do still have them. The majority of my cards don't have them though.

My current UK AMEX Plat has card number and CVV on the back.

It appears all cards are going this way. I don’t carry my wallet anymore as use ApplePay everywhere. I’ve been caught out a few times when needing to make an online payment and need to wait until I can get jb fribt of the physical cards. Otherwise, echo what other posters have said.

Ummm, what is "jb fribt"?
