I reserved my Amex reward flight last week for next week. Try as I might I can't check-in for this flight as a Velocity member. I can put the booking reference in and check in as a non-member so I get pleb seating but if I try to retrieve as a Velocity member it just tells me I don't have a flight coming up. When I go to add my Velocity number to my booking it only takes me to a page with my future bookings and there's no way to enter any info. Am I missing a page somewhere? I am using the correct booking number too as I can select seats as a nobody.

From "My bookings" there's this text:
To add your Velocity number to a booking, have your Reservation Number available and select here.

If I click that link all I get is my future reservations listed which all have been booked via Virgin anyway and have their numbers.

Another black mark...

I added my VA FF number to my last Amex free flight with no issues at all and even earned the relevant FFP and SC on it.

Nup agent told me on plat not eligible for FF points.... Mmmmm

So I'd have to call to add it?

Amex usually add the number when you book, but its rare to earn points/sc as the fare has a value of $0.

Amex will normally add the number at time of bookig at your request. Occasionally you get push back ... "can't earn point" ... just say better seating due to status etc.

You will need to call velocity as you can't do online for some third party bookings, Amex often included.

Have your VA (SABRE) PNR ready.

I just did it at the airport this morning. Of course it showed me as a NB so I knew I couldn't get into The Lounge anyway. Handed over my card and asked about better seating than row 11 but no dice. At least I should be able to check-in for the flight home as a SG.

You are not normally but if you are lucky you will get them anyway. I was a happy camper.

Thats what I was told too when I booked my reward flights but was pleasantly surprised when I saw points and SCs awarded for the flight. So no complaints from me.

Okay I was just pleasantly surprised to find I'd been awarded SCs and points for this flight. 30 SCs too (SYD-MEL) which is pretty good. So the lesson is make sure you get your FF number added to the booking.

Can anyone tell me if I am able to book a flight returning from a different city? I want to fly to Brisbane from Townsvile to catch an SQ flight but on the way back I will be flying through Sydney. So I wanna book TSV-BNE SYD-TSV. Or do I need to return from the same city?

AFAIK, it needs to be a simple return journey. No open jaw stuff, or anything like that!
