AMEX Shop Small promotion is back!

I just got an email saying I have earned 1 of my $5 credits. Thing is, I only spent $7 at Subway yesterday and ~$55 today at Veda online, neither of which seem to support the required $20 spend at small business. The Subway is listed on the Shop Small list but under it's old trading name and a different address in the same street.

Has anyone else received a credit for a smaller spend? I registered 4 Amex cards so I'll try another one at the same Subway to confirm.

I just got a $5 credit for spending >AU$30 at a local restaurant that wasn't listed ... so I guess its pretty much just a cough shoot.

I don't believe that this place used to accept Amex, so maybe its really new with the program. Interesting progression here actually - they used to accept MC/VISA (for sure) but with a surcharge, time passed then I noticed that the surcharge was dropped ... and now accepts Amex (with no surcharge). Good times! Its a small/family owned sized place but super busy.

The AMEX app isn't too good. However, my successful transactions are followed instantly by a confirmation email from AMEX. Nothing under $20 has provided a credit.

The $5 credits are showing up in my AMEX account transactions within 2-3 days.

Same experience here. Some businesses not listed are paying. Just have to keep track of which Amex you have used for return purchases.

I got a credit from my barber which isn't listed but has the "shop small" sticker in their window.

Also got a credit from Peter Lehmann's cellar door :D

Now to find a barber who takes AMEX and only charges $20. :p

Surprise credit from an online office supplies ink/toner purchase ... !

Got a surprise credit from buying a book signed by the author at the local library. Went through against a local bookshop that I had never heard off but checked the list in the Amex app and sure enough it was there!

I received surprise credits from Telecube and FaktorTel (two of several VoIP providers that I use, and they accept Amex without a surcharge). Telecube is listed, but FaktorTel isn't.

Who foots the bill for the statement credits? If it comes out of Amex's pocket, I might add some more pre-paid VoIP credit with a different Amex card, but if it directly impacts the Merchant, I'd feel a bit guilty.

AMEX foots the bill.

Both of mine have been surprises. The Irish Club in Mt Isa and I can only assume the restaurant I ate at last night, although they had a 3% surcharge so with the credit I'm pretty much back to the original bill value.

Had another surprise email this morning. Has to be a direct debit to a charity because I really haven't used that card at all this month.

I've received 2 e-mail notifications for credits (8 out of 10 remaining), but I have absolutely no idea what for, and they haven't been paid into my account yet. At the same time, I got a reminder e-mail which said I haven't used any (10 out of 10 remaining).

On a separate note, I went to a pub for dinner based on the list, but found out that they don't accept Amex at the bistro, only at the bar! Grr... so dumb.

...
Can take up to 5 days to post to account.

No problem. Open a tab at the bar. Your bistro purchase usually transfers onto the tab.;)

Same thing happened to me - it doesn't look like the emails advertising the promotion are linked to the same system that processes the credits. I have all the credits that i earned up until last Thursday paid to me now.

Got a credit at my local vet; takes a little of the sting out of the visit. That and the bowl of lollies on the counter :D

It has shown up as a $5 credit with the same description as the charge from Veda.

Totally forgot the pub was eligible last night, should have split the spend over two cards for two credits :(
