Amex survey for "card improvements"

Ok I may transfer to SQ early next year to be safe perhaps. Do sq miles stay alive for 3 years?

I got the survey as well, not sure if its the same version that everyone received but all it asked me was whether anyone in my family worked in the finance sector, to which I've answered yes.

Then the survey just finished...

The only reason I still have an Amex is for SQ points storage, if Amex remove the ability to transfer to SQ then bye bye Amex

Really?

Obviously no one enjoys "enhancements" but my Amex is still easily my most rewarding card. It would take a fair bit to get me to drop it entirely.

For many years Amex issued Amexes have provided the ability to earn points at a "coughulative" rate far above any other card. And for me that meant was far, far above.....

The Edge still does, but only at 2:1 to other cards. Nice, but not what the promos could generate....and limited to a certain pool of businesses.

The "rivers" of promo points have dried up dramatically over the last year. It has been ages since any real points run of note has been available.

The Amex promos have shifted from "points promos" to "cash back" and while cash back is nice, it is for me no where near as lucrative as a good points run every now and again.

Unfortunately that means that more and more of my spend is now going to non-Amex issued Cards.

Amex still out-performs many cards in many ways....but it certainly is not generating for me the same number of J flights per year that it was.

Twice as good is still well twice as good and you can do a fair bit of business at that certain pool of business.
