Can you elaborate? Do you mean you can convert travel credits expiring in 2022 into a statement credit? In effect reducing the annual fee on the platinum card?

Hi - I believe there is a 'window' for credits that this can apply to - they saw that my credits all expire in 2022 and were like "oh you managed to use them"

I wnat to say it's from now till end of 2021.. but don't quote me. She was more than happy to do anything in 2021 I believe..?

Does anyone know if there is particular requirement to be able to use your travel credit on the Qantas Rewards Store? For example I applied for the Qantas Ultimate card in early October, will I be able to use the $450 travel credit in the Rewards Store?

With AP still keeping her Qld borders closed and ruining my toolies trip, I called up Amex Travel and enquired about my non-refundable hotel booking. The agent said she would have to contact the supplier to get a response and would get back to me in 24 to 48 hours. Within half an hour, she called back to say the provider has agreed to a full refund, so I'm getting the travel credit, cash and points back.

But I forgot what she said about how long it would take for everything to be refunded. The booking is already showing as cancelled.

IME Amex Travel have been pretty good with this. I've cancelled two hotels with refunds at the 3-4 week mark

That's good. I'll set a reminder to chase up if nothing comes through within 4 weeks.

Maybe better that way.

“Toolie:
noun

a young man who attends schoolies week with the aim of having sex with female school leavers, despite not being a school leaver himself”

Although, maybe you are not a real toolie at all. 😀

I must say I'm impressed. The $400 credits and the points have already hit my account after 24 hours. Just waiting for the small cash component to show up.

I am confused about the Qantas spend and receive offer as I thought this was seperate to the usual annual credit I receive with my Qantas Ultimate card. ($450 Qantas Flight Credit)
I contacted AMEX and the agent told me the current spend then receive value back as credit up to $450 replaces the usual annual flight credit.
This seems odd because I haven't seen any change to the terms and conditions and the annual fee is the same.
Does anyone else know?
Was the AMEX agent confusing the 2 situations or is this legit that members have to spend in addition to the annual fee to receive up to $450 travel credit?

And now the cash part has hit the account as well. Everything refunded in under a week! Well done Amex 👏👍

I forgot that buying QF wine would use this credit. The two things that aren't clear to me as 1) I only spent $300 ($450 credit available). Does that mean I can still run a second transaction for the remainder of the credit? 2) Does this replace the $450 flight credit?

The $300 for the wine spend has posted. When I go to Amex travel I still see this which indicates this is in addition to the usual travel credit.1636328727243.png

Thought I'd add an update with my Amex Platinum Edge credit that was expiring. In the end I used it for a Virgin Australia flight. I've since changed my plans so didn't want to take the flight anymore. Calling Amex Travel, I was offered two options. Either hold the credit with Amex Travel or they could hand over the booking to VA and I could cancel to VA travel bank or change my flight as per VA T&C.

The Amex Travel credit terms were 1 year expiry, had to be used in one go and could only be used with VA flights.

VA travel bank, the usual conditions and expiry date of 1 year from the original booking date. Two phone calls are required, one to Amex Travel to ask them to handover the booking to VA and then to VA to make your changes as it is now treated as if you booked directly with VA.

Overall happy with the outcome and glad Amex Travel/VA made it so easy to cancel for credit.

I've also got a decent resolution from AMEX. I originally was told that credits for unused flights due to covid lockdown had to be used (flown) writing one year of original booking.

AMEX have now agreed to match Qantas policy that they need to be booked and flown by end 2023. This relates to Qantas Amex ultimate card annual flight credits for the past 2 years.

Have had this confirmed by email.

I recently had to cancel an Ultimate card booking. I thought I was told I needed to book by 8 March 2022, but I must have mi-heard the agent. The confirmatory email said book and fly by 8 March 2022. For someone WA,. that's not so easy.

I'll be on to Amex tomorrow to get this sorted.

I phoned Amex and queried the inconsistency between what Amex Travel was telling me with regard to cancelling my Ultimate card flight originally booked on 9 March 2021.

Sorted - sort of.

This is what the first email from Amex Travel siad:

You must rebook no later than 08 March 2022.
Travel on the new ticket must be completed by 08 March 2022.

This is what the new email said:

You have the option to rebook and travel before 8th March 2022 with no airline change fee or you can rebook and travel up until 31st December 2023 with a possible airline change fee of AUD99.00. Fare and/or tax difference at the time of rebooking may apply.

So they have thrown the onus back on QF. I don't anticipate any problems being charged a fee with re-booking after 8 March 2022 and before 31 December 2023.

It just raises the question why the first email a week or so ago didn't say exactly what today's response says. One would think these things are just boilerplate.

I get the feeling from my calls that they originally thought that people would let the credits lapse - win for AMEX, however they really cannot get away with it when pushed. It's dubious conduct.

We were forced to cancel a hotel booking in Brisbane (for the Ashes test cricket) due to the QLD travel regulations.

AMEX was very helpful: funds credited to account in 2 days; and Travel Credit reinstated for another 12 months.

Has anyone recently had a new year’s travel credit become available? It used to be that it became available for use a couple of weeks before the next annual fee was charged. Wondering if this is still the case given the changes they have made to how it can be used. Fee is due in just under 4 weeks and hoping to use the next years credit and cancel prior to it being charged. If this doesn’t work any more I will just cancel right away.

Yep. I think it was last week, when I saw another $400 Reserve + $200 Edge in my internet banking, both with expiry of Oct and Nov 2022, so I used the $200 last night to book a motel for new year holiday (I dare Omicron to shut down my new year trip! 😈)

My statement period finished on November 28th and I was charged my annual fee. The travel credit appeared on the day the annual fee was charged.
