I haven't seen thread about this card yet. It's the new version of the previously fee-free Amex Velocity Escape card.

This card now has a $95 annual fee, but earns a higher rate of 1 Velocity point per $1 (up to 12,000 points per year, then reverts to 0.75) and includes a $50 Virgin Australia statement credit.

Current sign-up bonus is 20,000 bonus Velocity Points if you spend $1,000 within 3 months. No set expiry date.

This card is probably more aimed at people looking for an entry-level card. If you're looking for something a bit more premium, the new Amex Velocity Platinum card is worth looking into.

I'll stick to my fee-free Velocity Escape and my standard Elevate Amex (which is also $95 from next year but unlike the Velocity Escape Plus, has no points earning cap) ... Might contemplate upgrading to the Velocity Platinum once I struggle to maintain my Gold status come 2026
