What to book? JUNIOR SUITE, RIVER VIEW. 36sqmtrs or ARCHIVE SUITE, 33sqmtrs

Archive suite has separate bedroom and is $30 more per night but smaller in size.

And Im breaking a AFFer rule - no FF points earn if I go with this hotel but at this point, Im over freaking Amsterdam accom.

What is it with the price of accommodation in Amsterdam? I need be there for 4nts for a trade show in late Oct and prices off the chart. And it’s not exclusive for the period I am there - outrageous prices for other times also.

I was in Amsterdam same time last year and similar experience. I do not get it - IMHO Amsterdam nothing short of a s**t hole - mind you if they got rid of the dope and the drunken pommies it would probably quite ok - but as it is not so much.
Lots of trade events not only AMS but also places 20km out like IJmuiden make booking difficult sometimes. If you can do without the big hotel luxury but still want clean and comfortable try Boutique Hotel View just off the Leidseplein. Affordable too. Owner runs a casual breakfast and will make suggestions and cook in front of you.
Bus 197 direct from Schiphol to Leidseplein (about 3 euro) and then a 50m walk around the corner to Leideskade location.

When everything is booked we drive to Muideburg and stay in Het Rechthuis. Nice small up-market suburb on the shore of the IJsselmeer. Deathly quiet at night.

Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South was well located to the RAI and also immediately adjacent a convenient train station. Stayed there in 2018 with no complaints and price was decent at the time (compared to central locations).
