I have been informed by Cathay Pacific (and eventually Qantas) that the flight I booked with QFF in July 2021 has been cancelled. However, the flight I booked direct with Cathay Pacific (for my son to travel with me) has NOT been cancelled (same flight/time etc etc). Are they trying to pull a fast one, or do you think that Cathay will eventually say it is cancelled?? Any info gratefully received :)

The flight is still in the system and still for sale? It’s probably the airline advising you of a suspected cancellation, and your son will get something similar down the track. Assuming your son’s ticket can be easily transferred, perhaps try to secure an alternative now using FF points, then transfer your son to your new flight?

My experience with a CX award flight (Trans-Tasman, operated by QF) was extremely positive. CX contacted me by phone offering to change date or full refund of Asia Miles points and co-payment. I requested the refund option. Points were back in my account in about 48 hours, and $$$ refunded to the credit card about 24 hours later. They were proactive and quick to process the refund.
