This isn't quite as cheap as the recent error fare, and you can probably get Philippine Airlines J for cheaper. But it's certainly cheaper than any of the direct flight options from Australia to USA at the moment, and a great product on ANA.

ANA J fares seem to be around $6,000 round-trip to various US destinations including SFO, IAH and ORD. In some cases there is a domestic connection on United First.

A couple of examples:

According to the fare rules, free stopovers are permitted in both directions, both in Tokyo and at the US gateway if there is a further domestic connection. Seems to be a year-round fare but you need to depart on/after 15 August 2023. Books into P class.

Asiana also seems to have some return J fares to the USA around the $6k mark.

Maybe a good fare, but I couldn't contemplate paying $6,000 for an airfare. I'd be looking at flying via Asia.

It would probably be cheaper to buy UA miles (when on special).

Finding availability is tough though. You really need to be willing to gamble on close-in availability, which is generally good, but unpredictable and can dry up around peak times.

Those big ANA biz seats are only on flights from Tokyo to London and New York on the 777s. But yeah- probably the best J class seats around- well comparable to JAL and Qatar too.
