Hey guys!

I'm flying on ANA's old 777-300ER from SFO to HND this December in the strangely configured 2-4-3 economy class. It's a small cabin but I've managed to secure the bulkhead on the left hand side of the plane (Seat 30A). ANA's website and Aerolopa is showing that the seat is misaligned with the window and doesn't have a view - does anyone have any in-person pictures or feedback regarding this seat?

It's an overnight flight (departing midnight arriving 5am) anyway, so I'm not too fussed either way. Just curious regarding how the seat is in terms of extra legroom and the view, and whether it's a good choice for the flight or another seat on the left of the plane would be better.

Alternatively, does anyone know if the aircraft will be switched out for the new 777?

Looks like the window is slightly behind you. Anyway, the 2-4-3 configuration is far better than the 3-4-3…wider seats for a start! But those newer variants also seem to have the same issue for row 30, with the window slightly behind.

You can get an idea from this trip report: Flight Review: ANA (777-300) Economy Class, San Francisco to Tokyo • Point Me to the Plane

Scroll right down to under the ice-cream desert photos and you’ll see a forward cabin shot. To the upper right of that photo you’ll see the exit and the window just behind the headrest. It looks pretty similar placing for that window of both variâtes of the 777.

Ooh thank you for that! That's certainly a good photo of the situation I'm in.

Now normally I would take a bulkhead without hesitation on any airline just for the legroom, but ANA's 34 inch pitch has me in a dilemma (first world problems haha) over whether I should skip the bulkhead half-window for a true window seat!

departure time of 1am or so with an arrival at 4am or so? Not going to be much to see. Bulkhead probably better so you won’t get disturbed - or have to disturb - your neighbours if you wanna go to the loo during the flight! Or simply get up to stretch your legs or get a snack.

And, while 34 inches is generous these days, when someone is reclined into you, it’s still bothersome.

Thanks for your help!

I've also found a walkthrough of the cabin here (

Pretty helpful imo and shows that the window is slightly offset behind the back of 30A

I wouldn't be sure if the newer 3-4-3 configuration is better in Economy, although it sure is better in Business. It really is annoying (experienced this myself last year when I went to the US in ANA) that ANA seems to still be flying quite a few aircraft transpacific with the old configuration. I guess the 777X delays have thrown off their plans.
