VA's website has an odd bug where some destinations pairs don't appear but if you manually edit the search URL they come up.

Yep had to do this for flights ex-ZQN last year
 
I took an ANA domestic flight last month from WJK-HND with a companion, who like myself entered their Velocity number at the time of booking directly with ANA, and my companion had no issues receiving points and status credits for this flight, although on the activity history it was listed as being from a flight from 'null to Tokyo Haneda'.

Unfortunately I didn't receive any points or status credits from this flight, and after waiting 2 weeks, initially the retrospective points claim form on the Velocity site didn't list my origin airport. I let it go for a week and came back and found they had updated the list with a whole bunch of ANA serviced airports, and submitted a points claim.

Now after a week, I've logged into my Velocity account and found the status of my claim as follows:

We are sorry to advise that your claim could not be processed. Please contact the Velocity Membership Contact Centre for assistance.

Which, conveniently for me, isn't open on a weekend. And the last thing I feel like doing is sitting on hold with an overseas call centre.

Has anybody else had as much trouble with trying to claim points for ANA flights? I didn't have any issues with being credited for my SYD-HND/HND-SYD flights, which were booked in exactly the same manner as the WJK-HND flight.

Just booked via my work, Syd to Tokyo. Asked travel agent to ensure VFF # is entered during booking, but now the e-ticket doesn't have a record of VFF #..
Should I call ANA to confirm ?

If you locate your booking on the ANA website you should be able to see it somewhere if it has been added.

I did finally end up receiving my points and status credits after eventually striking it lucky with a helpful person - although the reason given for why my claims were being rejected, whilst believable, comes across as slightly bizarre.

I booked my flight online using the ANA website, and as per their instruction to "Enter the names exactly as they appear on the passport", I entered my first name, middle name & surname at this point in the three respective fields - which, as is standard for many airlines, leads to a ticket being issued with a name in the format of 'Surname, FirstnameMiddlename'.

My account with Velocity was opened only in my first name and surname, because Velocity doesn't ask you for a middle name when you sign up and has no field to enter it.

So I was told that because my middle name was not listed on my Velocity account, my missing points claims were being rejected because the name on my ticket did not align with that on my Velocity account.

The helpful person that I encountered at Velocity updated my name on the account so that my 'First name' on the account is is now listed as 'Firstname Middlename' - and sure enough, my account was credited after this alteration was made.

Perhaps it might be worth raising this with Velocity if anybody else is still having an issue trying to get credited for previous flights.

Well this is absolutely bull because I flew ANA about a week after the partnership started back in July. I had FirstnameMiddlename Lastname on the ticket whereas my Velocity status only has First and Last name and all points were credited automatically as my number was in when booking.

I would assume their system should be able to handle it, and agree with your experience.

It's pretty well known that Velocity asks for a Firstname, Middlename, Lastname (as three fields).

Whereas on an international ticket they usually want "as per passport" which combines your Firstname Middlename as "Firstname"

I’ve done this in the past — addition of my middle name on Velocity account while upcoming VA bookings did not have my middle name. Didn’t cause any issues at all with points and SC accumulation and this was for around 10 flights
 
Does anyone know how often ANA releases their economy reward seats esp. for peak season?

If rewards seats for a particular date have gone, will they release more in the future?
If so, how periodic/often does this happen prior to the departure date?

ANA been VA partner for short period of time so not enough historical data to have answer to your question regarding release of further rewards seats once exhausted.

All I could suggest is keep checking or review your dates if possible. Or book thru another reward system if possible.

I checked SQ KrisFlyer and they have the flight on the date but curiously it doesn't appear in Velocity.

I heard I can call Velocity call centre and tell them that I can find the flight on partner airline (in this case SQ), and I can make a booking using Velocity pts over the phone?
Is that correct/possible?

I wouldn't say so. ANA inventory that VA has access to now quite reliably appears on the website. So you can try booking by phone, but if the space that SQ sees is not available to them then that's really the end of the story.
 
Just back from HND for a ski trip and I must say, quite impressed with Y on the 787. Maybe my expectations were low, but I found it pretty comfortable even with a full flight. Opted for daytime flights. My SA Gold via HSBC hasn't updated yet so no lounge, but I have a month left of VA SG so the additional luggage allowance helped as well (took my own skis). I don't think I'd bother with Y+ though as it didn't seem to offer much more really. Certainly I have no desire to do that trip on a 737.
 
I'm looking for HKG to either HND or NRT (redemption) on the velocity website and the only flights coming up are with SQ and go via singapore - kinda like going from Sydney to Brisbane via Melbourne - does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to find NH flight or if they are even offered? - thanks
