Doesn't seem confirmed at this point. They've been talking about Perth - Japan flights for years and nothings happened.
I'd also like a source that isn't based on something from Geoffrey Thomas.

I'll believe it when ANA comes out and says it.

I live in Perth and wouldn't know Geoffrey Thomas if I fell over him, but I am constantly amazed at the number of knockers that appear every time he is published. To my knowledge, nothing he has written has been proven to be incorrect.

We flew there in 1994 when they used to alternate the flights between Narita and Osaka. On arrival in Narita, QF had gate around #99, and there was the last holdout orange tree farmer left over from the battles when the airport was built. He had a little plot between two arms of the terminal, about the size of a quarter acre block with a chain link fence around it. All the aircraft backing out had to navigate around his plot. He would come to work each day in his tractor, tend his trees for an hour or so, and then go home. Not sure how the fruit tasted being subjected to all those jet fuel fumes for so long, but he hung out there until his death. Thankfully, on our return flight, a whole school had booked out economy, so we were bumped to J, and in those days when you could do such a thing, were invited into the coughpit as we were approaching the Kimberleys. Truly a spectacular view, the crew in the pointy end sure do get to see some great scenery.

Ho hum - so you’ve picked out one year, seems to me that just about every other global airline rating system is equally as believeable. Did he or his paper run the poll, or just report the results? I stated no-one has called him for incorrect reporting. I doubt most people would place too much relevance on any airline rating poll. Can you give us a real case of mis-reporting which justifies the criticism he attracts?

It's just a potential explanation.

I listened to his review of the Dutch findings in relation to MH17 (Perth Tonight interview). I thought it was reasonably balanced.

Perth to Tokyo flights with All Nippon Airways on sale today

Tokyo here we come - and for just $841 return in economy.
One of the most anticipated flights in years goes on sale at 2pm today with All Nippon Airways offering return flights from Perth to Tokyo at special prices till March 7.
The new daily service starts on September 1.
Premium economy is on sale from $1561 return and business class from $3521 return.
There is no extra charge, aside from a small local tax, to connect to Osaka, Nagoya or Fukuoka.
The airline is also offering onward return connections to a host of other domestic destinations for just $200 and will carry skis and snowboards up to 292cm for free.
ANA’s daily Perth service will depart Tokyo at 11.10am and arrive in Perth at 8.15pm.
The return flight departs at 9.45pm, arriving in Tokyo at 8.25am.
The airline will operate a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that has 184 seats comprising 32 business class flat-beds, 14 premium economy and 138 economy seats.
The airline has 265 planes and serves 92 domestic and international destinations.
ANA’s long-haul international fleet is made up of Boeing 777s, 787s and 767s, while its short-haul fleet is a mix of 737s and Airbus A320s.
ANA’s international planes have spacious configurations with good seat pitch and a high level of technology, such as power outlets and USB ports.
The airline will offer Perth travellers new one-stop connections to cities such as Seattle and San Jose in the US, and Calgary in Canada.
In Europe the airline serves Paris, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels, London, and Vienna.
In Japan, the airline lists 50 destinations on its extensive network.
The Perth to Tokyo service land in Narita, the biggest international airport in Japan.
Narita is connected to down-town Tokyo by high speed train service, which takes 60 minutes and runs every 30 minutes.

I just booked a J seat on HND-SYD with KF miles. When the operator asked for seat preference, I requested a window on an odd-numbered row i.e 3, 5, 7 which are closer to the window and more private. But she replied she only had 2,4,6 available so obviously they are keeping those seats for revenue passengers.

Has anyone found a way around this on an award ticket, apart from requesting upon check-in for a seat change? I'm *A gold with United (Premier Platinum) if that helps at all. FYI Surcharge was SG$290 and 83k KF miles.

You can go into ANAs manage booking function and keep an eye on availability. Sometimes the preferred seats open up closer to departure.

This seems to be only temporary, right? (i.e. it will probably return at some point when international borders reopen, along with the second-daily SYD-HND flight).

That's interesting. A pipe dream but wouldn't it be lovely to have JAL here as a part of the Qantas/JAL tie up that's been mooted

I know that ANA started this route just before covid, but I haven't found anything confirming that they will definitely be restarting this route (other than one article on pointhack which said it was due to restart in October this year). Unfortunately according to ANA's own website it looks like the route is still suspended, but I was wondering if anyone had seen/heard hints otherwise.
